Supra and Sighs of Contentment

This is a nearby water tower - paint crackling slightly from disrepair.
Tonight all of our office sat on the terrace of a restaurant overlooking the old village as the sun set over the fortress, the river and the church towers - cigars were smoked, the best Georgian wine drunk, speeches given, passionate discussions on GFSIS and the nature of being involved in the creation of the first think tank in the Caucasus were argued, huge amounts of walnut spread and aubergines, freshly baked bread, garlic and spinach and an excessive amount of laughing were consumed. And we talked about Georgia - and we wondered at where it's going - and we celebrated at how far it has come in the past 10 years. And it felt easy to believe that Georgia is pushing its way stumbling, beautiful and bright into a bright future - filled with the far off heat of evenings of lightning, mist and stars.
