California law says no one can own the ocean. Not even the Ritz Carlton. And at Half Moon Bay this beautiful legal loop-hole means people like me can sit for hours around bonfires on the cliff looking out over the sea, wrapped up in the Ritz's plush blankets and enjoying the ocean, which is lit by their fake fluorescent moon.
