Scattered Stars
I lie, up to my neck in a lake so dark there is no edge.
Above me is a sea of stars.
The stars are my essence; scattered, luminous and older than time.
I await a blossoming, a breaking open, a grand unfurling of the spring.
But winter is long. The world is ice.
No matter, I will rise.
I will rise with the green shoots, the stink of earth, the glittering buds.
I will watch my scattered stars pull together in a single dot, for one quick breath.
The universe will exhale as it throws the stars to their next constellation.
And, I will step into the next manifestation of myself.
